The Walsh University Byers School of Nursing was recently awarded two separate grants from the Ohio Board of Nursing's Nurse Education Grant Program for 2019-2021 in partnership with Mercy Medical Center. Walsh received $121,872 to support the new Fast Track B.S.N. program and $199,999 toward the M.S.N. Nurse Educator program.
Through the grant funding, Walsh’s Byers School of Nursing and Mercy Medical Center will work together to prepare nurses to start their careers through the Fast Track B.S.N, while helping experienced nurses transition into teaching through the M.S.N. Nurse Educator program aimed at preparing the next generation of nurses.
“We are thrilled that the Ohio Board of Nursing recognized the value in these programs that exemplify our mission to provide excellence in nursing education grounded in human experience,” said Dr. Judy Kreye, Dean of the Byers School of Nursing. “We’re able to take the daunting task of earning a nursing degree and make it more accessible to all through online coursework without losing the hands-on component and faculty interaction provided through clinical and laboratory experiences.”
Fast Track B.S.N. – WalshUniversity is now enrolling students for its new Fast Track B.S.N. program, which allows working adults ages 21 and older to pursue their bachelor’s degree in nursing. Students can earn their degree in as little as two years while enjoying the flexibility of online learning and without sacrificing the stability of in-class instruction. Lectures will take place online with weekend and evening hands-on clinical and laboratory experiences that take place in person.
M.S.N. Nurse Educator– Licensed nurses can obtain their master’s degree in nursing education in as little as six semesters through a combination of online courses and guaranteed clinical hours at Walsh University. This program prepares students to earn their Nurse Educator certification, and interested students may also choose to continue working toward their Doctor of Nursing Practice at Walsh.
Programs through Walsh’s Byers School of Nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
